Since 2013, we've been working to strengthen the historic neighborhoods surrounding Camping World Stadium, in the heart of Orlando. This area, renamed by residents as The Communities of West Lakes has a rich history and deep community ties. West Lakes is made up of the neighborhoods west of Parramore and east of Washington Shores or between Orange Blossom Trail and John Young Parkway in Orlando, Florida. These neighborhoods have long been rich in African American heritage, including many long-term residents who broke through the barriers of racial and economic inequality in the 1940s, ‘50s and ‘60s. These neighborhoods have also experienced inequity in public and private investments that support the well-being of residents.
